NAMI Montgomery County

Mental Health Programs

NAMI MC offers free, integrated programs throughout Montgomery County that reduce stigma, increase access to treatment, promote recovery, reduce caregiver burden, and prevent suicide. Current programs take the form of classes, presentations, support groups, and school-based suicide prevention activities.

Mission Statement

NAMI MC provides comprehensive support, education, advocacy, and public awareness to promote recovery and so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.

Activities and Programs

In the past year, we are proud to have reached 22,657 people throughout Montgomery County with our presentations, classes, support groups and suicide-prevention programs. This outreach has been made possible through the kind donation of 7,539 hours by 361 volunteers. The people we have reached include individuals living with mental illness, people at risk of suicide and members of their social networks, caregivers, Spanish speakers, African Americans, military families, students, police officers and the general public. Just some of the free programming we offer includes: Family-to-Family, a twelve-week course for family caregivers of adults with severe mental illness; NAMI Family Support Group, confidential support groups for loved ones of people living with mental illness; NAMI Basics, a signature education program for parents and other caregivers of children and adolescents living with mental illness; and NAMI Homefront for family, caregivers and friends of those who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces.

Population

NAMI MC is pleased to reach the people of Montgomery County with a range of free services available to anyone in the community who is impacted by a mental illness, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, income, race, ethnicity or any other sociodemographic characteristic.

Quotes
