Unlock a person’s potential and show them what they’re capable of. So many of our youth and seniors have lost hope and feel isolated and alone. Programs that use the arts as a tool for learning open up their possibilities! A child who struggles to find the words can use their body or draw pictures or make a puppet to speak for them. Seniors feeling “locked out” of society and their families can discover through storytelling the beauty and value of their own stories to be told. These tools are powerful and create the opportunity for individuals to see that there are avenues for them to express their thoughts, feelings and ideas and that through this expression, they can connect with what makes them unique as well as what makes us all so very similar. The Bad News

Children face historic declines in academic achievement, social-emotional development, and mental health, and we have to act now.

The Good News

We have effective solutions! The “Write Your Story” program is just one example of the power of the arts to open up new possibilities for every child – most especially for those who are struggling. Evaluative reports demonstrate significant improvements in literacy skills, social-emotional learning, and in fine and gross motor skills for participating children. Teachers discover new ways to engage their students and also get career-boosting course credits.

Story Tapestries is dedicated to harnessing the transformative energy of the arts, paving the way for every individual to embrace their full potential and fostering unity and inclusivity within our communities. But we can’t do this without your support. As a nonprofit, we rely on the generous support of foundations, corporations, government entities and individuals like you so that the programs and services we provide are made available at no cost to program participants.
