2nd Annual Gala: Elevating Voices – Celebrating Community on October 1, 2021

“We are committed to empower, educate and engage children and adults to integrate the arts into all aspects of their lives,” said Michelle Clark, Board Secretary and Event Chair, “All of the proceeds from this event will go towards programs and services that impact over 350,000 youth, families and seniors annually with arts-centered experiences that seek to promote accessibility, equity, and inclusion.”

The esteemed chairs are well-known as powerful forces in the DC Metropolitan area. Former First Lady of Montgomery County, Senior Vice President of Human Resources for ICMA-RC, and last year’s Honorary Chair, Catherine Leggett, has a long history of supporting education initiatives in Montgomery County. David Blair of the Blair Family Foundation is an entrepreneur and philanthropist devoted to making Montgomery County a better place for those who call it home, and believes the arts are one of the tools to support this goal. Peter Williamson founded Game Genius, a nonprofit that provides play-based services and experiences to support leaders, organizations, and socially beneficial initiatives in the Greater Washington region.

Michelle Clark

Michelle Clark, Event Chair, is currently the Secretary of the Story Tapestries Board of Directors. She is the Director of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships at Management Concepts, Inc. She also co-authored a collaborative book published during, and in response to, the COVID-19 pandemic, Leading Through The Pandemic: Unconventional Wisdom From Heartfelt Leaders.” As a mom and invested, active Montgomery County community member, Michelle uses her talents and expertise to support Story Tapestries in all its work to meet the organization’s mission. Michelle connects with the belief that children should be at the center of any approach to creating a brighter future for our communities, and that we have the greatest impact on children’s development when we involve those who support their growth: caregivers, educators and school administrators, and community members.

Catherine Leggett

Former First Lady of Montgomery County and Senior Vice President of Human Resources for ICMA-RC, Catherine Leggett, will follow up on her tremendous role in Story Tapestries’ 10th Anniversary celebration, shining her bright light on this year’s event. Mrs. Leggett and her husband, Isiah (Ike), are committed to and have a long history of supporting education initiatives in Montgomery County. Reflecting on Story Tapestries’ work in the community and on last year’s 10th anniversary event, Catherine shared about Executive Director/CEO of Story Tapestries, Arianna Ross, saying, “Arianna, we so very much appreciate the gift of love that you shared with us and the reminder that we all have that light of a star inside of each one of us. You left us with a feeling of grounding, hope and the knowing that – all we need is what we may already have – we just have to look inside – realize, develop and harness it.”

David Blair of the Blair Family Foundation


David Blair of the Blair Family Foundation is an entrepreneur and philanthropist devoted to making Montgomery County a better place for those who call it home, and believes the arts are one of the tools to support this goal. He has been active in business, civic and nonprofit communities for decades. He founded the Council for Advocacy and Policy Solutions and serves as a board member and acts in an advisory capacity to numerous other nonprofits. Story Tapestries is honored that the Blair Family Foundation has supported procurement of arts and activity kits with custom-designed journals, art supplies, and guided activities developed by expert teaching artists to support children learning at home. The Foundation has also funded free online public performances that have kept intergenerational audiences entertained and connected.

Peter Williamson

Peter Williamson is a professional golfer turned social entrepreneur who uses his love of knowledge of games, design, and philanthropy to catalyze change in communities. He founded Game Genius, a nonprofit that provides play-based services and experiences to support leaders, organizations, and socially beneficial initiatives in the Greater Washington DC region. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Game Genius has partnered with other nonprofits, including Story Tapestries, to provide unique, custom-designed Family Game Nights on virtual platforms that have helped keep us connected. “Over the last year, I’ve enjoyed working alongside Story Tapestries in a combined effort to bring fun experiences to the Greater Washington DC region. Their commitment to elevating diverse voices and perspectives is critical to celebrating the whole community.
