Honoring the stories of four little girls and one powerful voice

Please join Story Tapestries on Monday, January 20th at 4 PM at the Strathmore Music Center for the Martin Luther King Day Celebration, “Children of the Dream.”  This will be our first celebration of many for Story Tapestries’ 10-year anniversary, and it is a special one in that it is in honor of one of the greatest, most important voices in our country’s history.

Story Tapestries will create and present a theatrical spoken-word piece honoring the lives of the four little girls who lost their lives in the 1963 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing in Birmingham, Alabama. Veteran Amplify US! youth poet Karina Gorham will be joined on stage by her sister, Jazmyne Gorham, Arianna Ross’ daughter, Julianna Ross-Queiroz, and newcomer, Neelsville student, Irma Lozano, to perform this devised work guided by Story Tapestries Program Director, Valerie Baugh-Schlossberg. We would be honored if you could join us at this powerful and thoughtful performance.
