For Who: Any Early Childhood Educator in MD

What: Explore how easily you can incorporate the arts into your math classroom. Discover how an educator can teach foundational math skills in an engaging, accessible and creative manner. Drama and the arts do not replace math strategies. They simply create child-friendly, natural, hands-on ways for the children to develop an understanding that the words have meaning and support their ability to visualize the process for understanding
math concepts. Arts Integration can both enhance and motivate children’s understanding of the concepts connected to math words, problems, increase their higher-order thinking, build self-confidence, strengthen literacy skills, develop self-respect, and create positive group dynamics.

Goal: By the end of this course, participants will have participated in positive arts-integration experiences using all learning modalities, and reflected on those experiences to develop strategies for bringing math concepts and skills to their early learning children.
