I bet if you have children, you are starting to get ready for school. Now, you may already be ready, and if you are, then I am impressed!
Some of our school systems have already started, or they’re about to get started next week. Make sure in addition to your backpack that contains all those fun pencils, pens, crayons and markers and good stuff that you’ve got there with your lunchbox and your water bottle, you’re not forgetting about the art supplies – the supplies that help your child to be able to express themselves.
Think about what music they can use to study when they’re trying to help their brain concentrate and grow. Or if you have a kid who is very theatrical or likes to dance, help them to understand when they’re doing their homework, a dance break is really, really valuable – it helps their brain and their bodies stay connected.
However, if you or someone you know doesn’t have access to any of these things, reach out to Story Tapestries. Send us an email to administrator@storytapestries.org and say, “Help me to prepare my child.” We will do exactly that by sharing resources with you, and partnering with you and your school, your library, and the local community nonprofits around you.
If you can add some extra supplies to your shopping list to give to families who cannot afford them, see below for ways to contribute. Story Tapestries is leading an arts supply drive this fall that culminates with our annual celebration on Sunday, October 22nd. We would love you to bring your art supplies and join us as we Elevate Voices and Celebrate Community at the Ratner Museum in an afternoon filled with art, music and storytelling. If you cannot join us there, you can still contribute by:
- Donating dollars directly
- Donate an unused gift card or purchase a gift card
- Buy supplies from our Amazon Wish List
- Or drop off supplies at our office
Together we can make sure every student has access to the tools and services that help them thrive – THANK YOU for your efforts to make this vision a reality!
