The Story Tapestries Ensemble executes performances and writing residencies that use the literary arts as a means to discover the power of the written word. We create international, dynamic programs that highlight the individual art forms and demonstrate the power of fiction, nonfiction, playwriting, spoken word, hip-hop, rap**,** and storytelling. For over 15 years, the ensemble has presented in venues traditional and nontraditional across the United States, including corporate spaces, festivals, concert halls, colleges, libraries, and schools. They believe in the power of the literary arts to elevate voices and celebrate communities.
From the beginning of time, writing has had the ability to empower, anger, hurt, encourage, or excite someone. Through a series of writing experiences (performances and workshops), the audience discovers the power of their words to tell a story, teach someone about a topic**,** or persuade someone to feel a particular emotion. A presentation, be it a reading of a published piece or a performance**,** gives an opportunity for Story Tapestries to highlight its large network of literary artists. A writing residency creates an atmosphere where students use strategies to redefine and/or polish their written voice.
Performances: Experience a literary artist performing for a small audience or a large assembly of children, families**,** or adults.
Readings: Experience the joy of a visiting author presenting their work.
Workshop or Residency: Take one of Story Tapestries’ workshops or produce a writer-in-residence experience with Story Tapestries’ writers.
