We believe that people should be at the center of any approach to creating a brighter future for our communities, and that the literary arts—storytelling, writing, and narrative expression—as well as other art forms, are powerful tools for supporting their growth and creating a brighter future for our communities.
Story Tapestries takes a three-pronged approach to programming:

- Presenting individuals who have not had the opportunity to have their voices showcased as writers and artists
- Directly impacting children and adults**,** including seniors
- Training and coaching adults to be more effective leaders
- Developing parents’ and caretakers’ understanding and engagement
We prioritize making this approach accessible to communities within the following demographics:
- Title I schools
- economically challenged environments
- individuals with disabilities
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
Story Tapestries programs have a lasting impact on participants. Our partners and teachers report improvements such as:

Better test results: program partners consistently report 10% and greater improvements in test scores
Attendance: teachers report student attendance is highest during ST programs
Engagement: when ST artists perform or teach, community members get excited and show up, increasing attendance at school and community events
Inspiration: educators report feeling reinvigorated to teach and reconnected with what made them become teachers
New Voices- Communities report that they are exposed to individual artists with whom they would never know about
