Espaço Cultural Samba Trovão is aBrazilian Cultural Center, providing space for community, friendship, growth and healing. We provide classes for youth and adults in Capoeira Angola, Samba dance, samba percussion and more. We also provide after school programs and in school workshops and performances.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to bring the joy and depth of Brazilian culture, particularly Afro-Brazilian culture to participants young and old. A part of this mission includes hiring instructors who are themselves Brazilian and therefore teaching their own culture and imparting knowledge that has been with them their whole lives, thus providing truly authentic experiences.
Activities and Programs
We provide classes in capoeira angola, samba dance and samba percussion all taught by Brazilian natives with decades of experience. These classes and workshops helps participants gain confidence, sense of self, physical, and emotional control.
Population
We serve youth and adults in and around Hyattsville with regular classes at our space. We also serve interested schools and organizations in the greater DC area with workshops and performances.
