Friends of the Library, Montgomery County

Friends of the Library, Montgomery County (FOLMC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) and promotes lifelong learning in Montgomery County, MD. FOLMC provides supplemental funding, programs, and materials and equipment to MCPL to augment public funding. As an independent nonprofit, FOLMC has operated for 35 years without relying on government funding; it is not part of Montgomery County Government or MCPL.

Our mission is to strengthen, promote, and champion our public library system, as it responds to the changing needs of our diverse communities.

Activities and Programs
FOLMC provides a variety of programming focused toward our diverse communities. For example, we have quarterly literary luncheon series, author talks, Library After Dark awards ceremony, Seasoned Spellers Senior Spelling Bee, Mosaic Creative Writing Program for MCPS middle-school students, summer reading programs, book and vinyl record auctions, and Build and Learn with Lego. Population
FOLMC serves the same diverse population as the Montgomery County Public Libraries. We cater to a diverse multi-cultural population ranging from 1 to 100.

This is one of those hidden gems that I am not sure I want to tell about versus keeping it to myself. This store is one of the best places to go to buy used children’s books.
